City transitions to updated Building Code - In the September monthly meeting, the Board of Commissioners finalized Ordinance #2026-03 to transition the City's Building Code from the 2018 to 2024 IRC/IBC.
The 2024 IRC (International Residential Code) is the latest ICC module which incorporates updated safety, energy, and construction standards. The State Fire Marshall's Office and many local jurisdictions are aligning with the most current regulations to ensure compliance, modernize building practices, and maintain code clarity.
The new 2024 IRC/IBC code links are listed below for reference and will also be posted on the city's website under the Building & Zoning page. Hard copies of each module will be available on request at City Hall for reference if needed.
The new 2024 IRC/IBC will start being enforced 15 days after the final reading. A link of the signed ordinance, ordinance redline, and the final ordinance can be found below.
