Meetings Cancelled

Good morning,

Due to the approaching inclement weather this afternoon, our monthly Board of Commissioners and Planning Commission Meetings will be cancelled. Both meetings will be rescheduled to next Thursday Jan 25th at 5pm for the Board of Commissioners meeting and 6pm for the Planning Commission meeting.

Our crews are out touching up our roads today and have laid approx. 60 tons of salt to our roads since this event started.

Some roads appear clearer than others due to several factors:

- They can only lower the plow so low due to curbing, utility access points, and other hazards on the road. This is why some streets seem to be covered with packed snow in areas.

- How frequent vehicles are traveling on it. This is why the main artery roads are much clearer.

- How much the road is exposed to sunlight.

- We have several streets that are shaded and do not get direct sunlight to help.

- The temperatures have been very cold and not letting the salt do its job.

- Several of our elevated areas can have temperatures 5-10 degrees colder.

We are directing crews where needed so we can make the streets as safe as possible for everyone. This event approaching is possibly bringing more ice to the roads and making it very hazardous to be out.  The temps are going to start dropping again late tonight and will stay that way for the next few days.  The good news is that it will warm up next week and the snow and ice will disappear. Please plan accordingly especially tonight and into tomorrow and stay off the roads if you don't have to commute anywhere. Let us know if you have any problems or concerns.
