Extreme Cold Alert

Our area is forecasted for some very cold temperatures and possible snow accumulation at the end of the weekend. Towards the end of this week, we will receive some more rain, then the temperatures will start to fall reaching the teens and single digit temps. We will start seeing some snow on Sunday evening through Monday night. Currently, the forecast is showing accumulations between 1 to 3 inches which will start on Sunday evening.

I have already talked with our snow and ice contractor, and they will start laying salt at the end of the week after the rain subsides. They will begin on the critical roadways of the city, then cover the remaining roadways. The critical areas are roadways which are normally 5-10 degrees colder than other roadways in the city due to the elevations and increased safety factors. We will continue to monitor the weather throughout the weekend and into the first part of the week to plan accordingly to make sure our streets are as safe as possible.

Please plan accordingly for any traveling during this time frame. I have also created a new website page that covers "Public Utility Information". These contacts will assist you with reporting and updates during outages and other situations that occur during inclement weather.

Below are the weather forecasts for Sunday through Tuesday for your reference.
