If you are not sure if you need a permit,
please call the City of Forest Hills office. You can obtain a permit application
at the City of Forest Hills office located at 4012 Hillsboro Road.
If you are planning an improvement to your
property, you need to check with your local homeowner's association and/or
architectural control committee for Conditions, Covenants, and Restrictions
(CC&R). CC&R are private controls that run with the land; you should have been
given a copy these when you bought your property. CC&R can control the size and
location of buildings, their architectural style, and even the color of the
paint. While the City of Forest Hills cannot enforce CC&R, your neighbors can.
Please check your CC&R before embarking on a project that changes the exterior
of your home or yard.
